Gaylord Soli (1939-present) was born on a farm in North Dakota after his parents immigrated from Oslo, Norway, Gaylord Soli at the age of three relocated to Los Angeles, California and it has been his home ever since. He currently works in his studio daily in Orange County. He has always had a love of open spaces and that has never left him. His earlier years were spent on adventures around the globe. He went on camera safaris to the Kalahari Desert of Africa, did anthropological research on the native tribes of The Amazon River, studies of Mayan Ruins of Chitchen Itza in the Yukatan Peninsula, and the Ancient World of Alexander The Great, from Syria to Mongolia. His travels and experiences have greatly influenced his paintings. Gaylord has said “I have been fortunate to have traveled the world extensively. The canvas has faded and has been torn & patched in places. Music box first patented in the US on March 1st, 1881 which appears to play 8 separate songs. Does not have identifying sheets stating original maker or list of songs, but all mechanics of the box appear to function properly, if a little stiffly. In very good condition, with one surface scratch on the lid, measuring approximately one and a half inches, and another on the edge of the lid as well as minor signs of wear on the corners. Comes with a leather cover to protect the box. Measures 31" long, 12" deep, and 9" tall. 164 / 467 -
