Our Story

The story of EstateSales.org begins with three guys with a passion for garage sales.

Mike Judkins got into garage sales in the early 2000s because he and his wife had fun flipping finds for extra cash. But they soon discovered it wasn’t easy to find and map out sales every week. In fact it could get pretty frustrating! So Mike did what any web developer would do and in 2006 built WeekendTreasure.com, a site that listed garage sales and yard sales by map that quickly found a devoted following.

Meanwhile in Boise, Idaho, software engineer and garage-sale buff Nate Denning had a similar idea. Nate had been going to garage sales since he was a teenager, looking for deals or cool stuff for cheap. As he got older and no longer had all day to spend, he also figured there had to be better way to find sales. In 2007, he and fellow garage saler and web whiz, Marshall Salinger, developed Gsalr.com, which featured an interactive map of garage sales that soon became popular.

Mike, Nate and Marshall soon noticed that both of their websites were becoming popular with the estate sale crowd. In 2009, the forces of fate intervened to join Mike, Nate, and Marshall for a series of secret brainstorming sessions and hackathons that shall forever remain classified, but would lay the foundation for creating the best technology available to bring people and used goods together.

In November 2009, they launched EstateSales.org, which has since become one of the most popular estate sale websites in the U.S. Remaining dedicated to innovation, in 2016, EstateSales.org launched the first online auction platform designed specifically for the estate sale industry.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, EstateSales.org is run by a rock-star team of 6 that operates out of satellite offices in Seattle and Atlanta.
