Everything But The House is pleased to present this art auction in partnership with The Andrew Mistler Foundation, a non-profit public charity created in 2007 in memory of Andrew Mistler. After the death of their son, Andrew, in 2004 Greg and Michele decided to establish a scholarship in his memory. Their mission is to provide scholarship opportunities to young artists, and support community services and programs dedicated to the health and education of young adults.
To date, the Andrew Mistler Foundation has been able to award 30 scholarships, purchase painting, photographic, and sculpting equipment, and a Smart Board Interactive Whiteboard for the Art Department at Dixie Heights High School. It has also sponsored awards for the annual State Art Competition, and provided funds for special art projects at Dixie Heights, including The Memory Project. In addition, contributions have been made to numerous programs and services dedicated to the health and education of young adults.
Each year, Dixie Heights High School Advance Placement Studio Art students are asked to paint a piece for the annual Mistler Foundation Auction. Mr. Mistler, who provides the canvases and other materials for this project, has one specific request about what they paint: whatever they want. As long as their work is appropriate for a public audience, he always wants the students to be happy with what they have chosen to paint and loves to read the descriptions students provide that helps the viewer understand their intentions more clearly. This auction is a compilation of these works of art from a range of students and teachers from Dixie Heights High School.
