This is a multi-estate auction with items auctioned to the highest bidder with NO RESERVES. Everything must go. Estates include items from the Henry Thorne estate auction up for bid to the highest bidder as well as other estates from Salisbury, Asheville, Charlotte, Atlanta, and more.
Henry Thorne retired from a 38-year teaching career in Kentucky and North Carolina remaining a vital part of the community as pianist at the Presbyterian Church. His love of antiques bloomed allowing him to open an antique shop on Main Street in Sparta.
Mr. Thorne quoted in an interview expressed, "I love art and beautiful antiques...I would like for the people of Sparta to come in and enjoy them, too." He was originally from Chesney, SC, but spent his years of retirement in the community he called home, Alleghany County.
The auction includes contents of Mr. Thorne's three homes including a fine collection of Toby Mugs, porcelains, antique furniture, books, art glass, original art work, jewelry, antique coins and silver dollars, Chinese and other Asian antiques, and more. It also includes items from Salisbury, Asheville, Atlanta and more. Everything must go!
