A wonderful early 19th century (possibly ash and pine) low back chair of primitive form for the hearthside. Beautiful figuring to crescent rail , Shaped stick rails on back and 2.5" thick seat with adze marks to underneath of seat finishing off with a mellow color. Top and sides of seat have a sappy looking dry surface. Three staked legs. One is missing. In original condition with fine traces of red and blue paint. Thought to be early 19th Century English. 1025 / 1519 -
