Inspired by ancient Aztec and Maya glyphs and stamps, this Mexican Sterling Silver necklace, screw-back earrings, and bracelet set by artisan Gerardo Lopez (c. 1950) uses figural overlay to create an example of Taxco's "archeological" style. Eagle, Rabbie, Jaguar, and divine Monkey and Quetzalcoatl (the feathered serpent) are represented. Necklace is 15" long, 1" wide, earrings are 7/8" x 1 1/8", bracelet is 7" around and 1" wide. Scarce and very desirable in a complete parure - I have found a couple of examples of this set in the $500.00 range. Necklace and bracelet are clearly marked - earrings are an obvious match. 157 / 847 -
