This is the story of a mother and daughter who lived side-by-side, next-door to each other. Back in the early 1950s, the mother and father, along with their young children, moved from Ybor city where they had lived and grown-up themselves, and they built this house at 2109 West Elm St. They lived here for nearly 70 years, as they watched their children and the city of Tampa grow. Lowry Park Zoo (now ZooTampa) was just a baby when it began down the street from this family on Sligh Ave in 1957. https://zootampa.org/
Eventually, once the father passed away, the grown daughter bought the house next-door at 2111 West Elm St. and moved in to be near her mother and help take care of her, as she was up in age. When the mother passed away, the daughter moved into her mother’s house, but unfortunately she was struggling with cancer herself, and also passed away, about a year later.
Both of the houses are still packed with all kinds of things, especially jewelry and clothes! The daughter was a member of the Red Hat Society, so you can imagine her taste in clothes, it was definitely fancy! Not only did she love clothes and shoes, she also had an affection for jewelry!
The jewelry and other valuables have been removed from the home, and will be brought back and available for sale during the 4-day estate sale on April 11-14 from 8am-3pm each day. Hillsborough county sheriffs office will be on site during the sale.
Definitely mark your calendars and bring a friend. There’s far more here than at your average estate sale!
