Again L.A. is proud to invite you to a very special
estate sale. After 20 plus years in this business....I am rarely
surprised by the contents of a home we have been hired to liquidate.
This time I am. :-) Literally everything is collectible....lot's of
rarities and tons of interesting items that you just do not see anymore!
Each day we have worked...our entire team has been blown away by the crazy
awesomeness we are uncovering!
This is the estate of a unique special man....Mr. Martin Mackey. Martin was a longtime East Hollywood resident (over 40 years), a beloved educator who inspired and motivated his students at John Muir in Burbank, an avid collector with an almost encyclopedic mind with collectibles, pottery, and art, a fan of mid-century furnishings, an avid golfer, an incredibly talented assemblage artist, and so much more! At one point - Martin operated an antique shop on the corner of Hollywood and Sunset called Blue Meringue! Martin viewed his two bedroom apartment as an installation and would not allow his landlord to make any changes or updates....and the unit was under constant change with art rotating on the walls. Marty did open his home to others - often preparing breakfast for the nearby homeless population. When stepping foot into Marty's "installation" one sees the man and the things that were important to him....and you are immediately struck by his absolute joy in life and natural curiosity!
This Estate Sale will be conducted Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, August 5, 6, 7, 8th in East Hollywood - Silver Lake near the intersection of Sunset and Fountain. Parking is going to be tough....but we assure you that you have not seen an estate like this in a long while...and possibly may not again! We are madly sorting, displaying, and pricing the contents of the home and Marty's Garage.....and will be updating this posting up until the sale dates!
We hope to see you there!

We have a number of his sculptures, works on canvas, and other assemblage pieces that you will find to be quite interesting and thought provoking.
