A client of mine was serving as a Trustee for her aunt's estate in Loomis. She hired GB Estate Sales once the property was in contract, and this is how I met Helen and her team. There was a massive amount of personal property to liquidate and Granite Bay Estate Sales made it a seamless process while maximizing the proceeds for the beneficiary of the estate. My husband and I made the decision to downsize and we hired Granite Bay Estate Sales to undertake this task. Helen explained everything to us and everything was handled exactly as she stated.
Helen came two weeks before to begin the process of preparing our home. The day before the sale she had organized everything and priced the items. During the course of the set up, she constantly communicated with us and we provided additional information on artwork and other items. The sale went very well and we sold most of our items.
After the sale, Helen organized the removal of the unsold items to a charity. Before she left the house, she took pictures of the rooms and they were all vacant. She had either sold the items or had them delivered to a charity. We were more than pleased with the ease of this process.
Helen and I spoke on the phone frequently and she kept us informed of what was happening throughout the sale.
Upon completion of the sale, she presented to us a complete inventory of the items sold. It listed the suggested price as well as the final sales price. We also received the donation receipts for those items sent to a charity.
Helen and Granite Bay Estate Sales were very easy to work with. Although the process of selling a household filled with memories can be stressful, with Helen’s help this was handled in a professional manner and it was a pleasure to work with her.

During your preparation for the estate sale, and during and after the estate sale, you identified items of mine that you felt I had left in my home in error. You contacted me to check on that with me, and you even took the time to bring those items to me.

I was concerned that after the Estate Sale, I would need to do something with items that did not sell and then clean up my home in order that the new buyers could move in at the close of escrow. You proceeded to include those "add-on" services to my contract with you. Those were wonderful services and made my move less stressful.

From the day your staged my home for the estate sale, to the close of escrow, I did not have to return to my home to remove items that did not sale or to clean my home for the new buyers -- your services took care of all that.

The services you and your company provided to me relieved most of the stress that I had been under from the day I put my home on the market for sale until the close of escrow. I cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make my move much easier, and even productive!

After the estate sale was over, you met with me and provided me a written accounting of all items sold and their selling price and provided me with a cashiers check for items sold less expenses as outlined in the contract.

Tim & Helen, along with their crew, are fantastic. I approached them at a very difficult time in my life & they were incredible from beginning to end. They guided me as to what I needed to do to get ready (which was far less than I thought), spent time researching all our items for pricing, organized them for sale, advertised & promoted the sale online, and handled themselves like professionals all the way through. After the passing of my step dad, it quickly became clear that we were faced with an impossible situation. Items left by a collector/hoarder take on a life of their own and in our case could fill a football field. We knew there was money in the items that fell from every nook and cranny of the estate but there was also a lot of trash and ruined things. This estate sale would push the limits of any liquidating company.

Then there are all the horror stories of liquidating companies taking advantage of their clients by ripping them off. So after interviewing a number of liquidators, we focused on honesty and competency. We immediately felt comfortable with Granite Bay Estate Services. 

In 100+ heat, the Granite Bay Estate Services team undertook the task of uncovering, sorting, cleaning, pricing and selling an enormous amount of stuff including many vintage and collectible items, old cars, unusual antiques and a variety of everyday items. Advertising over 200 items online, contacting their buying clients and strategically placing signs around town, the sale lasted for four days, was well staffed and regulated. We were provided a reconciliation sheet and and given a check for our percentage in a quick and timely manner.

Facing the removal of this vast amount of stuff including furniture, ten old cars, 300 radios, many antiques and the multitude of junk on the property, just brought tears and frustration and was utterly impossible. But GBES broke down this enormous task and made the impossible... possible. We would Never have been able to come through this stressful situation without the GBES crew's fortitude, positive attitude and hard work. "When our widowed 84-year-old mother decided to downsize from her large home in Cameron Park to a smaller place, we (her daughters) decided that we didn't have the expertise, energy, or time to invest in trying to sell the furniture, tools, and other items she was not going to take with her. We agreed that going through an estate sale company would be our best solution. We investigated several estate sale companies online. We needed a company who could respond quickly because our mother had already moved and the real estate agent wanted the house empty for better showing. We needed a company who would be able to get everything out, whether it sold or not. We wanted a company who would understand the value our mother placed on her things and treat them accordingly. If we could find a company with expertise in tools- our mother had inherited a great many tools from our step-father- that would be a big plus. Finally, we wanted a company that would charge what we thought was a reasonable commission.

Granite Bay Estate Sales was the only company who met our criteria. We invited representatives from three companies to walk through the house with us. Based on their proposals, we would select one of them. As we walked through the house with Tim and Helen, we noticed immediately that they understood how much these things meant to our mother. Time had the expertise in tools that we wanted. Helen clearly appreciated the value our mother placed in her things, pointing out to us some items that might sell easier or faster than others. We chose Granite Bay Estate Sales.

Helen was our main contact. She held our hands through the whole thing. We had not been involved with an estate sale before. And since two of us would be directly involved in the process, she'd have to help us both be clear about everything. Helen managed our expectations very well. She explained the process and answered our questions. She worked with us to customize and rephrase the contract so that the financial arrangements as well as the service to be performed were explicit and adequately detailed. She helped get appraisals where necessary and did lots of research to determine the value of various items. She was available, via phone and email, for additional information before and after the sale. She also spent much time and effort in trying to sell items that had value but did not sell during the 2-day sale itself.

From our viewpoint, the biggest differences Granite Bay Estate Sales made in our estate sale were:

-Communication- expectation-setting, availability, progress updates, status of various high-value items that didn't sell during the 2-day sale, etc.

-Trustworthiness- because we wanted to get the best price possible on all of our mother's valued items, it was critical to us that we could trust Granite Bay Estate Sales. We felt they dealt with us honestly, treated the items with care, did the research that was required, and went above and beyond our expectations to try to sell items that had value but a very limited market.

-Efficiency- we needed to turn this task over to professionals partly because we didn't have time to do it ourselves. Granite Bay Estate Sales were able t take on this task and hold the sale two weeks later. This was a lot of work to do in a short period of time, counting the preparatory research, planning, marketing, and organizing, and they pulled it off.

Finally, as with any situation of this type, when the inevitable customer service issue arose, Tim and Helen immediately jumped in to resolve it. In our case, we found some items left under the house in a dark back corner after the sale. Within 2 days, Tim was there to remove that stuff- mostly trash.

We can unreservedly recommend Granite Bay Estate Sales for an estate sale. While we didn't get as much money from the estate sale as we had hoped- probably a common occurrence- we did have a very positive experience with Tim and Helen. They did everything they could, and far more than we would have or could have done ourselves, to find buyers and sell these items. What wasn't sold was donated, where possible, and only a small portion was taken to the local dump- both actions handled completely, with our consent, by Granite Bay Estate Sales. They managed to make this experience pleasant and far less stressful that it might have been".
