MISSION

The mission of Heirloom Appraisal Services and Downsizing Solutions is to guide the transition of all things cherished. We believe that the things we keep tell our story and we want to assist in curating the next chapter of those beloved items.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Growing up in and around the industry most of her life, Heather has experience handling many aspects of the appraisal, estate sale and auction business. In the past, she procured contracts with sellers for the online estate sale company Everything But The House. Heather was an employee of Dawson’s Auctioneers and Appraisers, a New Jersey Auction Company for over 25 years, where she assisted with many high profile appraisals and auctions. Working on behalf of Dawson’s often in conjunction with Sotheby’s New York, she contributed to the appraisal and liquidation of a vast range of collectibles, jewelry, fine art, furniture and more.

Heather apprenticed under Linda J. Dawson, who was a licensed auctioneer in New Jersey, a senior member of the American Society of Appraisers (A.S.A.) and Appraisers Association of America (A.A.A.), an appraiser on Public Television’s “Antiques Roadshow”. While retired, Linda Dawson remains active in the online auction world on a part time basis and collaborates with Heather from time to time on a consultation basis.

In 2018 Heather founded Heirloom Downsizing Solutions and Appraisal Services. In addition to curating and managing online estate sale auctions, Heirloom Appraisal Services and Downsizing Solutions provides clients with appraisals for estate planning, insurance purposes, damages claims, probate assignments and divorce settlements. Heather is able to appraise collectibles, furniture, silver, porcelain, china, mid century modern items, contemporary household items, designer costume jewelry and decorative art.

EDUCATION

Heather Dawson holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science from the School of Education at Syracuse University. She completed her auctioneer licensing course at the Southeastern School of Auctioneering. She completed her appraisal course work with the International Society of Appraisers, (ISA), core course along with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
