Royal Doulton Toby Jug "Catherine Howard" # D6645 Vintage 1977 Excellent Condition Catherine Howard (c. 1523 – 13 February 1542) was Queen of England from 1540 until 1541, as the fifth wife of Henry VIII; sometimes known by his reference to her as his "rose without a thorn". Catherine married Henry VIII on 28 July 1540, at Oatlands Palace, in Surrey, almost immediately after the annulment of his marriage to Anne of Cleves was arranged. However, Catherine Howard was beheaded after less than two years of marriage to Henry on the grounds of treason for committing adultery while married to the King. 8 / 70 -

This gorgeous detailed hand painted handmade Royal Doulton Character Jug named "Jane Seymour†D6746 was designed by Peter A. Gee, and was issued between 1986 and 1990. This Character Jug depicts Jane Seymour (c. 1508 – 24 October 1537) was Queen of England from 1536 to 1537 as the third wife of King Henry VIII. She succeeded Anne Boleyn as queen consort following the latter's execution in May 1536. She died of postnatal complications less than two weeks after the birth of her only child, a son who became King Edward VI. Standing approximately 4 1/4" tall x 4" wide, she is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs, and no fading. The handle of the jug is a horn, and it pays homage to the former motorists who drove some of the very first vehicles. This bone china Royal Doulton Sairey Gamp character jug was released in 1935 to pay homage to the character in Charles Dickens' 1843 novel "Martin Chuzzlewit" in which Sarah Gamp ("Sairey Gamp") was a gossiping, gin-drinking midwife and nurse.
