PREFACE: If ever there was a time for an estate sale to thrive it is NOW. With the economy in it's current state consumers are looking for the most reasonable price without sacrificing quality. For example, if you need a new kitchenaid item it could be costly to hit big retail stores. However, a perfectly good item of the same quality can be fetched for a much lower price at an estate sale.
SIDE NOTE: Buying at estate sales will keep perfectly good items of use out of landfills.

Growing up in and around the industry most of her life, Heather has had experience handling all aspects of the estate sale business. A long time employee of Dawson’s Auctioneers and Appraisers, a New Jersey institution for over 20 years, she was involved in many high profile sales. And often working in conjunction with Sothebys Auction House and Christie’s, New York, she contributed to the appraisal and liquidation of a vast range of rare collectibles, jewelry, fine art, furniture and more.
Mrs. Alexander added to this hands-on experience by attending the New York University Appraisal Studies Program and by apprenticing under her mother Linda J. Dawson, now retired, was a senior member of the American Society of Appraisers (A.S.A.) and Appraisers Association of America (A.A.A.), and a frequent participant on Public Television’s “Antique Roadshow”. Heather Alexander is USPAP, (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices) certified through the International Society of Appraisers.
Heather Dawson Alexander graduated from Kent Place School in Summit, New Jersey and holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Syracuse University's School of Education. She is the recent, former president of the Barrington Area Mom's Club and now steers the club's Moms In Business Committee. She is a member of the Greater Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce. Heather lives in Barrington, New Hampshire with her husband, Jess, and two children, Jasper and Alice.
Upon relocating to New Hampshire, Mrs. Alexander quickly established The Attic Shop, a now thriving vintage resale shop on Etsy.com. Heather is a member of the Vintage Jewelry Sellers Team on Etsy and is a proud member of The Jewelry Ring.
Heather Dawson Alexander's career in the field of appraisal and estate sales is rooted in her admiration of vintage style and antique history, as well as the desire to help others understand and appreciate the value of what they own.
