Martin Maier Camel Back A rare find especially in the south. This is truly our Showroom piece. All original…We chose not to restore this in any way because of its original shape. Martin Maier established his trunk business in 1865 at the age of 25 in Detroit Mich. This was 2 years after joining the Union Army in St Louis and participating in the march to the Sea from Atlanta. Martin Maier was known for making much of his own MM hardware just as you will find on this trunk. Both leather handles have 68 stamped on them which is unusual, but possibly a patent date of 1868. It has a double lock patent Oct. 1871 is quite ornate. It also has some Charles Taylor #2 latches and hardware as well. The inside is equally pristine. All original lithographs with two hat boxes and center tray. *Please note we can ship this item although it is marked pickup only, just know there will be additional costs. 37L x 22D x 30H
