Fine example of 18th C. George II bracket mantle clock with burl and fruitwood inlays. Signed John Smallwood Macclesfield. Keyed doors at front and back display face and engraved and chased works. Handle at top. Face and back interiors are framed by ornate gilt brass spandrels. The clock has a beautifully engraved brass backplate with scrolling foliate decoration, which is a mark of quality and attention to detail of Smallwood. Lovely and complete works. C. 1750. double fusee movement and chime, 2 winding arbors on dial. Reknowned small production regional clockmaker, Maccelsfield in Cheshire England. 16 x 12 x 7.5 -
