The figure is dressed in a green deer stalker hat and brown coat. The handle is formed from a pipe and magnifying glass. Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930), an unsuccessful doctor, published the first of his widely popular detective stories in 1887. The amateur sleuth Sherlock Holmes shared rooms on Baker Street, as well as many adventures, with his friend and foil, Dr. Watson ~ Markings: Royal Doulton Mark with a lion over a crown on top of a circle having four "D"s in its center and the words Made in England; Royal Doulton; England around it.
