This poster, from 1973, Robert Fried created for the short-lived rock group Bodacious DF, a band founded by former Jefferson Airplane member Marty Balin which also included members of Quicksilver Messenger Service and Country Joe & The Fish. Fried was responsible for the album cover art for the group’s only release, 1973’s self-titled Bodacious DF. His poster for the band is an example of the artist’s brightly colored, graphically-abstract creations for which he was famous. Fried, a trained commercial artist, is well known for his iconic imagery from psychedelic posters and handbills of the 1960s and 1970s. From 1967 through 1970, Fried produced at least eighteen rock concert posters for promoters The Family Dog and Bill Graham Productions, among others. This is an authentic piece of memorabilia from the heyday of the 1970’s counterculture, having belonged to a devoted music fan and collector based in Philadelphia.
