This auction lot is for a Reliquary Case of the Passion of Christ. This case contains a gathering of three "relics" related to the Passion of Christ - and as is the accepted tradition and custom the "relics" are not being sold, only the case that holds them. The "relics" are a gift. This item has the red sealed wax of the Ecclesiastica and comes with papers as such. This very unique reliquary holds a relic of the Crown of Thorns, a micro-stone from the Holy Sepulcher and another micro-stone from the Column of the Flagellation which is housed in the Basilica of Santa Prassede in Rome. The column is believed to be that which upon Jesus was flogged before his crucifixion in Jerusalem. The relic is alleged to have been discovered in the early 4th century by Saint Helena - a great and well known gatherer of many Holy Relics. This is a sacred and devotional relic of the Catholic Church. These religious items are from the estate of Sister Shaun Marie, OSU.
