Fantastic and rare piece from Chinese history! Beautiful antique carving of a Qing Dynasty soldier or official in a seated position. According to the provenance provided by the estate, this piece was purchased from Honeychurch Antiques gallery in Seattle, WA circa 1990s. The Honeychurch gallery identified this Asian wood carving as an 18th century statue originating from the Hubei Province in China. The seated man is identified as Tai Sui Marshall Yin, who was "renowned for his sense of filial piety and his bravery in killing devils, demons and monsters." His clothing was carved and painted in great original detail. Current condition as shown in photos. 35.5 Inches tall.
