Highly collectible set of three nickel plate over copper mid century modern candle sticks stamped with Thomas Roy Markusen's mark. Three graduated sizes: 18.5" tall, 16" tall and 14.5" tall. These candlesticks represent a dramatic free form of sculpture iconic to the brutalist period of American design. It is hard to find a set of three like this that are not identical. All in great shape, but do need finish restored as there is some oxidization. Markusen was commissioned to create a set of raspberry patina candleholders for The White House Collection of Contemporary Crafts. He has pieces in the Vatican Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City, Wustum Museum in Racine, WI and many private collections.
