This Forgotten Envelope of Foreign Money was found in a big, fat encyclopedia in an estate we are liquidating for a friend. The bills are in nice condition. One is a Fifty Yuan on the Central Bank of China - 1944, two are Five Yuan notes from the Bank of Communication in Shanghai - each has different original authorizing signatures both dated 1914, there are three Five Yuan notes from the Central Bank of China, one dated 1938 and two dated 1941. They come in an envelope that is postmarked from the USS Lyman K. Swenson, a WW2 Destroyer that was stationed off Okinawa at the time of the postmark which is March 25, 194-something. Rare find.
