Bronze Of The Same Soldier “CORP. NESSâ€. Edition 12/40
The subject item is a limited edition bronze casting of the same Civil War soldier posed in a matching black & white lithograph. The noted and listed artist, Harold T. Holden, (b. 1940, Oklahoma), poses the soldier standing profile with his proper left foot on a large stone on the ground. In his right hand he carries his army-issued carbine pointed at the ground, and his military sword in his left hand too is posed resting on the rock. His care-worn face gives the impression of a well worn Union veteran weary of battle, Corporal Noah Van Buren Ness. The limited edition casting of 40 was issued in 1998 by the artist to commemorate Ness City KS named after the corporal.
