Decoys of the Atlantic Flyway by George Ross Starr, First Edition 1974, blue pebbled faux-leather. 4to. 308pp. Published by the Winchester Press. Copy #366 of 375 numbered copies signed by the author and then signed again and personalized to "Doc" Shoffstall, wildlife artist. Photographs by George Dow. A reference work on decoys by the noted collector. It covers decoy art and history including making decoys and hollow and frame decoys and the influence of the market-gunning years on decoy production. There is a section on shorebirds and other stick up decoys. The third and longest section is made up of stories and discussion of representative gunning areas all down the coast, from Maine to North Carolina and the decoys from each region. The book is illustrated with over 150 photographs (some in color) of decoys from the author's collection. A very good copy with minor wear. The text is fine and clean.
