Nelson Matter from Grand Rapids started the business in 1870 and closed the doors in 1917 due the the WW1. Their furniture is scarce and little known by many including dealers of antiques. Each piece was hand made and carefully carved. It is one of the few American companies which is undervalued. For sale a French Provincial Desk in very good conditions. The paint/lacquer on the top shows wear (see photos) but many like it this way. We prefer to sell authentic pieces with the original patina. Some scratches normal for its age. Measures 38" in width, has a depth of 21.5" and a height of 51.5".This item has a reserve.
