RARE ART TO BE SOLD Sister Corita (Kent) - Artist ThE print is a test for a truly special work from 1964, titled, mary does laugh. Some additional historical information: The "Mar" "Bas" in the center of the work is taken from the iconic sign of the Market Basket grocery store, which opened a location across the street from the Immaculate Heart College (on Franklin Blvd) in 1964. The store was located directly behind Corita's studio and she often took her students there to to study and photograph the packaging and signage. The surrounding cropped texts at the edges of the print spell out "tomato" and "hamburger."
