(2pc) Owen Jones (English, 1809-1874) Prints - "The Grammar of Ornament" | elections from "The Grammar of Ornament" by Owen Jones, published in 1856, in which Jones prepared a comprehensive analysis of styles of ornamental design, presenting key examples ranging from Egyptian columns and Greek borders to Byzantine mosaic, Indian embroidery, and Elizabethan carvings. Two selections include: "POLYCHROME ORNAMENTE I. 1895" depicts various examples of patterns and designs of "many colors" (polychrome), showing ornamentation from Greek, Egyptian, Assyrian, Arabic and Byzantine styles. "GLASMALERE I .1894," German for "Stained Glass" depicts various examples of stained glass designs, showing stained glass windows of the Cologne Dom in Cologne, Germany and the Saint Paul Church in Aachen, Germany.
