Premier Harp Maker Chris Caswell-25 String Celtic Harp In January 21, 2013, the folk and world music traditions lost one of its great harpers. Our masterful maker and player of the Celtic harp, rapturous performer, charming storyteller, expert musicologist, and extraordinary individual, Chris Caswell passed away peacefully at his home in Oakland after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Chris played a huge role in the Celtic Renaissance as a member of Robin Williamson’s Merry Band in the 1970s and in the Caswell Carnahan duo in the 80s. Over his 40 year career, he has built more than 1,000 harps for musicians around the world.
