Gaylord Soli (1939-present) was born on a farm in North Dakota after his parents immigrated from Oslo, Norway, Gaylord Soli at the age of three relocated to Los Angeles, California and it has been his home ever since. He currently works in his studio daily in Orange County. He has always had a love of open spaces and that has never left him. His earlier years were spent on adventures around the globe. He went on camera safaris to the Kalahari Desert of Africa, did anthropological research on the native tribes of The Amazon River, studies of Mayan Ruins of Chitchen Itza in the Yukatan Peninsula, and the Ancient World of Alexander The Great, from Syria to Mongolia. His travels and experiences have greatly influenced his paintings. Gaylord has said “I have been fortunate to have traveled the world extensively.
