Painstakingly hand carved from a single piece of birch wood (no joints or breaks in any links) symbolizing the unbreakable bond of marriage. Ceremonial Scandinavian wedding spoons were made by the groom as a gift to his bride as far back as the 1600’s. It is rumored after they shared their wedding meals, they hung it in their home for good luck. Been in original box since the wedding in the late 1960's. This set was purchased in the 1960’s, wood is raw, un-oiled, small spot on front of one spoon and large light discoloration on bottom of the other (see pictures). I have not tried to remove and suspect with a light oiling or staining they would disappear. Spoons measure 6.5” long and 2.5” wide. Chain is 19”, total length is 32”
