A very attractive and well-proportioned vintage Chinese cloisonné table lamp, circa 1940–1970. The baluster-form body is worked in multicolored cloisonné enamels on a rich midnight-blue/black ground with scrolling peonies, chrysanthemums, prunus blossoms, and small birds among foliage — classic motifs symbolizing beauty, prosperity, and longevity. The enamel cells are neatly formed with fine brass wires, and the colors remain vibrant with only minimal expected minor surface wear. Mounted on a heavy cast-brass foot and topped with a polished brass capital; fitted with an American-style three-socket cluster and pull-chain switches (three brightness levels plus off). The brass has developed an attractive natural age patina. Original cloth-covered cord is present but shows age — for safety and full rewiring is recommended (simple and inexpensive for any lamp shop). Total height to top of cluster approx. 19–20 in (shade not included).
