These finely carved ancestoral figures are an excellent example of Central Nias sculpture. The tightly carved bodies and fine dress possess impressive tension and the expressive nature of the face. Pay particular attention to the intricacies of the ears. Pairs of Nias sculptures are rare, but not unheard-of. There are TWO matching pair in this offering. The attention to detail is incredible; with finely carved ears, delineated kneecaps; and a fantastic royal coiffure, these pieces are a true masterwork.
