Artist: Ernesto Yerena Montejano Title: LAFC Calavera 18"x 24" Inch Screenprint. Sold Out Timed Edition. Signed by Ernesto Yerena Montejano. Who Is Ernesto Yerena Montejano? Ernesto Yerena Montejano was born in El Centro, CA, a mid- sized farming town bordering Mexicali, BC, MX. Fueled by his cross-national upbringing, his art practice reflects his observations of the views and interactions between the Mexican communities living on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. The artist shares narratives of his conflicts of identity that he feels are kindred to what many Chicanos of these communities experience. Although Yerena identifies as Chicano he also strongly identifies as Native/Indigenous to this continent which is often seen in his work. His work depicts his frustrations with the oppression in his community as well as creating work in solidarity with the community in the defense of dignity and rights. Through his brazen imagery, the artist brings political concerns to light with subject matter that depicts cultural icons, rebels and everyday people voicing their stance against oppression. In 2008 Yerena created the Hecho Con Ganas publishing project in which he produces politically and socially conscience images that are produced in limited edition silkscreen prints. Highly recognized for his activism, Yerena is the founder and curator of the Alto Arizona Art campaign (2010) as well as a founding member of the We Are Human campaign (2009). Yerena has collaborated on many thought provoking projects which include artists Zack de la Rocha, Shepard Fairey, Manu Chao, Ana Tijoux, Philip Lumbang, Jaque Fragua, Diane Ovalle, Chuck D, and Mochilla. -
ARTIST: Dickchicken TITLE: Dickbusters MEDIUM:140lb French Archival Paper SIZE:18 x 24 Inches RELEASE DATE: Aug 11 2011 EDITION: 50 NOTES: Comes with COA. If you love the Ghostbusters. You will love this piece of art. About DIckchicken: Legend has it that shortly after the passing away of the Buddha his disciples met in council at Rajagaha for the purpose of recalling to mind the truths they had received from their beloved Teacher during the forty-five years of his ministry. Their hope was to implant the principles of his message so firmly in memory that they would become a lasting impetus to moral and spiritual conduct, for themselves, their disciples, and for all future disciples who would seek to follow in the footsteps of the Awakened One.With the Teacher no longer among them, the monks found themselves with the responsibility of handing on the teaching as faithfully as possible. Having no written texts to rely on, they searched their master's quarters hoping to find any notes or journals. To their dismay the Master had no belongings. Only one scrap of paper with a drawing on it. That drawing was the first appearance of we now know today as "DICKCHICKEN." The disciples smiled. They knew the lesson the Master had left behind was one of whimsy, humor and light.Dickchicken belongs to the same street art movement including the likes of Mr. Brainwash, Bambi, Takashi Murakami, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Faile, The London Police, Ernest Pignon Ernest, Martin Whatson, Atari, Kaws, D Face, Sandra Chevrier, FinDac, Os Gemeos, Kaws, Cranio, Escif, Seth, ROA, Denial, Invader, Stik. -

Faile- Paster Poster Around The Corner Open Edition Screen Print. Side of poster shows some creasing. Deadstock. Made for the 2011 Show - A Decade of Prints and Originals. Shows wear consistent with cheap paster posters. FAILE (Pronounced "fail") is a Brooklyn-based artistic collaboration between Patrick McNeil (born 1975) and Patrick Miller (born 1976). Since its inception in 1999, FAILE has been known for a wide-ranging multimedia practice recognizable for its explorations of duality through a fragmented style of appropriation and collage. While painting and printmaking remain central to their approach, over the past decade FAILE has adapted its signature mass culture-driven iconography to an array of materials and techniques, from wooden boxes and window pallets to more traditional canvas, prints, sculptures, stencils, installation, and prayer wheels. FAILE's work is constructed from found visual imagery, and blurs the line between "high" and "low" culture, but recent exhibitions demonstrate an emphasis on audience participation, a critique of consumerism, and the incorporation of religious media, architecture, and site-specific/archival research into their work. -

Artist: Jeff Gillette Title: Art in Action - Lichtenstien Type: Archival Pigment Print on 290gsm Moab Entrada Fine Art Paper. Size: 16 x 20 Inches Run of: 100. Sold Out. This RUN comes signed & numbered by Jeff Gillette and with a Certificate of Authenticity. ARTIST STATEMENT "I am from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. In the late 1980s I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal for two years. During this two-year stint, I visited every major city in India, finding myself exploring the huge slums found there. On my return to home, I moved from the Mid-West to escape the snow to teach High School Art in Orange County, California. Since finishing my MFA at Cal State Fullerton, I have been exhibiting in galleries both at home and abroad. My work is most often landscapes. A major portion of my output is paintings of slums of the developing world, where I often add an element of western cultural privilege (and oblivion) into settings of urban blight. Inspiration for what I call 'Slumscapes' comes from first-hand experience travelling. Most often I return over and over to my favorite destination: India. In the vast poverty-stricken fringes of its vast megalopolises I trip out on how the economic disparities are obscenely extreme. Ive been spending a lot of time in Mumbai slums: photographing, filming, creating Plein Aire paintings and creating interactive street art. Besides depicting slums, my artwork portrays post-apocalyptic debris fields, landfills, and detritus-cluttered deserts. The Juxtaposition of Disney themes and beloved characters (i.e.: Mickey Mouse) with all these dystopias best conveys my personal views. Pondering contemporary social, political, economical and philosophical conundrums, I cant help but feel absurdly helpless, pessimistic and humored about the future of Western Civilization. -

Pondering contemporary social, political, economical and philosophical conundrums, I cant help but feel absurdly helpless, pessimistic and humored about the future of Western Civilization. -
Artist: Jeff Gillette Title: Art in Action - Lichtenstien Type: Archival Pigment Print on 290gsm Moab Entrada Fine Art Paper. Robot Chest Piece | ELYSIUM (2013) Movie Prop. A robot chest piece from Neill Blomkamp's 2013 action sci-fi film, Elysium. Set in the year 2154, the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth and Max Da Costa (Matt Damon) takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds. An army of robots built by Armadyne Corp serves as the police force in the slums of Earth. Early in the film, Max can be seen assembling robots in the factory. This chest piece is made from thick resin. The piece is purposely unfinished as it was designed to be in scenes in which robots are being built. Painted silver, the Armadyne logo is imprinted at the bottom of the piece. Showing some signs of wear from production use, distressing, and storage this piece is in overall great condition. This is just one of the 4 I have from the production. I have a printed copy of the COA since I split the plates into 4 lots. -

Artist: Russell Shaw Higgs Title: Pink Pedestrians 12345 Archival Inkjet on Somerset Satin Enhanced 330gsm Paper Edition of 50 Signed and numbered. Size: 48 x 27 cm About the Artist: Russell Shaw Higgs was born in 1960 in Oswestry Army Camp. He is named after two of his fathers favourite men, Bertrand Russell and George Bernard Shaw. Predominantly based in London, he has a broad and diverse history as an artist and political activist. In the early 80s post-punk band Wicked Kitchen Staff, Russell sang and redistributed shoplifted gifts amongst the audiences. In the late 80s he was heavily engaged as a frontline civil disobedience activist with a number of campaigns including ACT-UP London and Outrage. The early 90s saw Russell flirting with Contemporary Dance, in performances at the ICA & The Place. Russell has lived a fiercely self directed and uncompromising life. Burning many many bridges along the way. Not always making the wisest or most practical choices. He regularly compares the option of death against whatever other choices are on offer to him, in order to be clear about what he is and is not prepared to do. He is by default an optimist. -
