Here is a great antique primitive Jelly Cupboard or storage chest - solid wood (heavy). Has working key and lock (very hard to find). Lock may have been replaced. 3 shelves and and an inside latch to hold one door closed. 42" across, 18" deep, 62.5" tall. This is a very versatile piece (if only it could talk!). Anyone who buys this will have to move/load it themselves. Good antique condition. 244 / 771 sold -

This is one of my favorite things in the sale. CHARMING hand drawn depiction of "The Residence of Rev. J.N. Lewis of Wytheville, June 28, 1856" The artist further notes that "Mr. Lewis has a fine collection of minerals with specimens of this neighborhood." I did a little research on this gentleman, and he WAS a real person. Reverend James Nelson Lewis is found on the 1860 census of Wytheville, VA, married, with several children. He was born in PA about 1809 and died in Florida in 1887 (you can view his headstone on FindAGrave). He married Jane McClanahan in Roanoke, VA in 1847. He was a minister of the Gospel - after viewing the picture and noting the Black Mammy taking care of a child in the yard, I checked the slave schedules - he was the owner of 4 house servants. The area he lived in is coal-mining country and there are many geological specimens to be had in the area. The piece measures 10.5" across x 12" tall. 274 / 771 sold -
