Antique (19th century) Chinese teapot - decoration represents the Cauldrons of Chou. These mythical cauldrons symbolized the ruler's authority and were used in ritual sacrifices. Supposedly, after the fall of the Zhou dynasty (the last of the three earliest known Chinese dynasties, the cauldrons vanished. One legend states that a dragon took them away in a river.
