Joseph Wright graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and continued his education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He was a US Naval Officer in Guam and Cambodia and also worked as an accountant in two separate 30 year careers with the last being with Carilion where he retired at the age of 84.
