Sandra Gilbert was recognized in 1986 by Ms. magazine as one of 12 Women of the year for her outstanding work in feminist publications. She was the first person in the US to have a woman’s Studies college  course.  She wrote several books about literature, feminist issues, food, and was a prolific poet as well. Poetry abounds.
