Aptly named for its well known owner, The Bell House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Virginia Historic Landmark.  The home was built in 1883 by Colonel J.O.P. Burnside, son of Civil War General Ambrose Burnside.  The Colonel lost the house to the U. S. Government in a lawsuit over pay irregularities in the Union Army accounts. Owned next by Alexander Graham Bell’s father and then Alexander himself.
