Kaminski Auctions September Estate auction on September 15 and 16, 2018 presents a unique opportunity to acquire rare fine art and antiques from one of the foremost aristocratic European family collections developed over the last two centuries. Katherine Henrietta de Stuers, a descendant of President Theodore Roosevelt and John Jacob Astor, was born in the historic landmark castle of Champvent, Switzerland, to Hubert de Stuers, a longtime ambassador of the Netherlands to France and close personal friend of King Alfonso XIII of Spain. Katherine's father Hubert, himself a philanthropist and great art enthusiast, famously continued to enrich the collection of the family's prior generations.

Treasures at auction include an exquisite portrait by Jan van Ravesteyn, whose work can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery, and in major leading museums around the world.  There is also an engraving of Comtesse de Bonneval by Carle van Loo, and a portrait of Finance Minister Louis III Phélypeaux, Secretary of State and Minister of Finance under King Louis XV of France. On offer is an exquisite variety of objects dating back to the 14th Century.

The Jan Anthonisz van Ravesteyn (Dutch, 1572-1657), portrait of a gentleman is an oil painting on wood panel, dated 1612 and is presented in the original period frame. The centerpiece of the Katherine Henrietta de Stuers collection, it is valued at $25,000 -$50,000.  Another portrait is of Louis Phelypeaux, Comte de Saint-Florentin, Duc de la Vrilliere, a minister under Louis XV and is attributed to Louis-Michel van Loo (French, 1707-1771.)

Tiffany glass collectors will be interested in three Tiffany lamps on offer in the sale. They include a Wisteria leaded stained -glass lampshade, and bronze tree trunk base stamped Tiffany Studios; a Tiffany lamp with daffodil stained-glass shade and bronze base marked 'Tiffany'; and a Tiffany lamp with green stained glass and spider-web shade and bronze base marked 'Tiffany Studios 533', all from a Marriott, Georgia estate. There is also a Tiffany Favrille iridescent vase from a Malibu, California estate.

 Decorative art highlights include an ancient classical bronze of winged angels, measuring 22 inches tall and also, 19th-century French silver and a bronze sculpture of a Roman woman signed Le Quesne sculpture Gautier.

In the jewelry category, there are several stunning rings on offer including a ladies' natural ruby ring with a 2.68-carat center stone set in 18-carat gold, and a ladies' emerald ring with an emerald cut Colombian stone.  Another interesting lot is a Mogul Indian ladies' suite consisting of a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, and a pair of earrings all of which are 22K gold and adorned with pearls and emeralds.  There is also a ladies' 1920's 14k gold mesh bag with sapphires and pearls, marked with a squirrel hallmark with approximately 146 grams of gold weight.
