Set 4 Vintage Clear Glass Trinket Dishes W/ Art Deco Dragonflies Design Style Verlys.

This is a lovely set of dragonfly Verlys glass plates made in Rouen, France. These little dishes are the perfect size for rings and other small personal objects. The pair of dishes are a fantastic Art Nouveau item, in great condition with no cracks or chips. They are frosted clear on the outside and clear on the interior. They measure approximately 3 inches and are 1/2 an inch in seat height. The soft curve of the dishes with the repeating dragon flies is subtle yet functional; the dragonfly pattern is one of his most coveted designs. Verlys art designs are inspired by nature. His glass pieces are unique and imaginative. To this day his glass pieces remain an emblem of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. In the 1920's Verlys was making glass pieces by a company called Société Holophane Français. Later, their molds came to the United States. Verlys art glass is either blown or molded. The French pieces are marked with a molded signature. Verlys designs often resembled those of Lalique and thus became quite popular all over the world. The dishes are sold only as a set of four. The set would be a wonderful antique to have on a nightstand, or anywhere where one keeps small personal items.
