19th Century Un-signed Portrait of George Washington in original gilt-gesso frame. Due to a moving mishap, this item was torn as shown. We obtained quotes from restorers in the range of $1000 to $1200 We are selling it as-is. Even in the current condition it is quite striking! The consigner had a folder of information on this piece from various galleries from the 1970's as they sought to learn more about it - most said that it was not important that it was un-signed as many were not - they were copies of the original by accomplished artists - as this one appears to be.
