18th Century Victorian Spanish and French Hand Painted Fans

Professionally framed, 25 x 29 3/4 inches
The top fan is Spanish origin, the bottom fan is French.
Amazing hand painted antique fans, you will be stunned at the details.

The Spanish fan is likely from the 18th or 19th century, featuring carved and pierced sticks, possibly made of mother of pearl and a delicate leaf which could be vellum or silk satin. Embellished with gilded accents or sequins. It was a highly fashionable accessory among the upper classes. It served a practical purpose (cooling) and for social functions (displaying status and for courtship rituals). It has 1 loose stick that could be repaired.
The French fan features an oval cartouche with what appears to be a classical scene, possibly depicting Diana and Endymion, a common motif in 18th century fan art, often found in significant collections like the Royal Collection. The use of materials like ivory and mother of pearl, along with detailed carving and painting, suggests it was a luxury item. You see this type of carving on Cameos.
There is a reserve price on this item, we are firm on this. Each fan is retailing at over $1000.
